Tube Auditor Makes Debut Appearance at IQPC
21/05/2010

To commemorate the RTS Tube Auditor™ making its first appearance at this week’s IQPC Compound Management and Integrity Conference in London, an on-booth competition was held to guess the volume of liquid in a microtube.

Within the drug discovery process, compound managers typically deliver samples in SBS microplate format to downstream screening groups; and just as for other inventory management applications, they need to have confidence in the quality of their delivered product i.e. the plate contents. If there are empty wells in the microplate, or perhaps wells with samples at the wrong concentration, this can have a potentially significant effect on the results from the screening process, or other downstream analyses being performed.  A secondary effect of this is potentially significant levels of wastage and cost.  RTS Tube Auditor™ helps compound managers identify should any problems exist by measuring the volume and also the presence of precipitate within a tube.

The IQPC on-booth competition involved guessing the volume of liquid in a specific tube; this was then measured at the end of the event by the Tube Auditor. Over 20 delegates participated and the winner, with an estimate of 486uL, against the actual volume measured by the Tube Auditor of 498uL was Mark Wigglesworth - Manager, Sample Management Technologies, GlaxoSmithKline.  Congratulations Mark – the iPAD will be delivered shortly!
